Urnex have updated the formula for their descaler and the result is Dezcal. These changes include the addition of a corrosion inhibitor for safety of lower quality metals, and some slight modifications to the rate of foaminess produced by the product.
Urnex Dezcal is citric acid based and is the most environmentally friendly descaler we could find. It is non toxic and biodegradable. When you need to descale your machine simply dissolve one sachet of this powder in 1 litre of hot water and fill the water reservoir of your espresso machine with the solution. Follow the descaling instructions provided by your machine's manufacturer (we also have some guidelines in our Coffee Info section on this web site).
Without regular descaling limescale will accumulate in your machine and can eventually result in damage which will not be covered by the warranty on the machine. Regular descaling will also help maintain optimum performance from your machine and result in better tasting coffee!
Important! Urnex do not recommend the use of this descaler with aluminium. For machines with aluminium boilers or thermoblocks we would recommend using the Gaggia or Krups descaler.
