The highly regarded Mazzer Mini is one of the smaller professional grinders available and has a more powerful motor than those in typical domestic grinders. The Mazzer Mini is aimed at the commercial market but is also an ideal choice for serious coffee enthusiasts. It features a patented stepless micrometrical grinding adjustment mechanism so that you can choose exactly how coarse or fine you want your ground coffee, and it produces very consistent results. The large diameter burrs grind the coffee beans quickly which also minimises the amount of heat the ground coffee is subjected to.
As with most professional grinders it has a doser that allows you to temporarily store the ground coffee and dispense it into your filter handle, a dose at a time, with the dosing lever. In a domestic setting where the ground coffee is not used as rapidly it is recommended that you only grind the coffee you need at the time and to keep the doser empty. It is supplied with a simple black plastic tamper (shown in picture) that can optionally be attached to one of two positions on the front of the doser.
There is more than one version of the Mazzer Mini. The one featured here has a timer control which allows you to set the grinder to grind for up to 60 seconds and therefore cannot accidentally be left switched on. Mazzer used to make a cheaper version with a simple manual switch but this has now been discontinued, and there is a more expensive electronic version.
This is a very sturdy machine with a solid cast metal body and is designed for heavy duty use.
